Best Pool Service Software in 2026: 7 Tools Compared by the Job They Do
There is no single best pool service software. There's the best tool for the route, the best tool for the phone, and the best tool for the office. I ran a pool company for five years and built one of the tools below, so here's the honest version.
Every "best pool service software" list I've read ranks seven products against each other as if they do the same job. They don't. Skimmer and Pool Brain run the route. Jobber and Housecall Pro run a general service business. ServiceTitan runs a large one. PoolCRM, which is mine, answers the phone and follows up. Buying the wrong category is how you end up paying for software and still doing the broken task by hand.
So this list is sorted by the job, not by a score. Find the job that breaks most often in your company and start there.
Pool service software compared
| Tool | Price | The job it does | Best for |
|---|---|---|---|
| PoolCRM | $397/mo flat | The phone: missed calls, quote follow-up, reviews | Pool companies losing accounts after the phone rings |
| Skimmer | From $49/mo | The route: stops, readings, tech app | Recurring service routes |
| Pool Brain | From $55/user/mo | The route, with more automation | Multi-truck routes that want alerts and workflows |
| Pool Office Manager | Quote on request | Office admin for pool businesses | Builders and service companies with office staff |
| Jobber | From $39/mo | General field service: quoting, scheduling, invoicing | Companies that do pool work plus other trades |
| Housecall Pro | From $59/mo | Dispatch and customer communication | Dispatch-heavy home service businesses |
| ServiceTitan | Custom pricing | Enterprise service operations | Large operations with an implementation owner |
Competitor pricing and positioning as of September 2026, from each company's own site. Check before you buy. PoolCRM is my product. I've tried to describe the others the way I'd describe them to a friend who owns a route.
1. PoolCRM: Missed calls, quote follow-up, reviews
Mine, so read this one with that in mind. PoolCRM is not route software and doesn't try to be. It does three things: texts back every missed call in seconds, follows up every quote four times over two weeks, and asks every customer for a Google review two hours after the job. Setup is done for you in three business days. $397 a month, no per-user fees, no contract.
Best for: Any pool company, one truck or ten, that loses customers between the first call and the first visit. Runs alongside Skimmer or Pool Brain, not instead of them.
Don't buy it for: Route optimization, chemical logs, or invoicing. Keep your route software for that.
2. Skimmer: Stops, readings, tech app
The most widely used pool-specific route app. Techs get a stop list, log readings and chemicals, take photos, and send a service report. The office gets route optimization and billing. Most pool companies I talk to already run it, and I'd tell a new company to start there.
Best for: Recurring weekly service companies with one to twenty trucks. Pool-only.
Don't buy it for: Answering the phone or following up a quote. It has no missed call text back and no follow-up sequences, which is why PoolCRM connects to it.
3. Pool Brain: The route, with more automation
The other serious pool-specific route platform. Similar footprint to Skimmer with more automation around alerts, tech accountability, and job workflows. Priced per user, so the gap with Skimmer widens as you add techs. Worth a demo if Skimmer feels too simple for your operation.
Best for: Routes with several trucks and an office person who will use the automation.
Don't buy it for: Lead follow-up and reviews, same gap as Skimmer. Per-user pricing hurts at scale.
4. Pool Office Manager: Office admin for pool businesses
Built for the pool industry with a heavier emphasis on the office side: scheduling, customer records, and billing. It positions itself for pool service and construction. Evaluate it if your bottleneck is the office rather than the truck. Pricing isn't published, so budget a call.
Best for: Pool companies where the office is the problem, not the field.
Don't buy it for: Marketing and lead follow-up. And confirm the tech app on a real route day before committing.
5. Jobber: Quoting, scheduling, invoicing
Solid general field-service software with a clean quoting and invoicing flow. Not pool-specific, so no chemistry logs or readings out of the box. Review requests are a $39 a month add-on, and missed call text back isn't offered at any tier. If you do pool plus landscaping or general handyman work, it's the sensible middle.
Best for: Mixed-trade companies that want one admin system across services.
Don't buy it for: Pool-specific service documentation. Ask to see how a tech logs a chemical reading.
6. Housecall Pro: Dispatch and customer communication
General home service software with strong dispatch, on-my-way texts, and customer communication. Popular with HVAC and plumbing. For a pool company it works for repair-heavy operations with several techs and a dispatcher. Weaker fit for a pure weekly route.
Best for: Repair-focused pool companies with a dispatcher and multiple techs.
Don't buy it for: Recurring route work. Test a rescheduled weekly visit, not just a new job.
7. ServiceTitan: Enterprise service operations
The enterprise option. Dispatch, CRM, marketing attribution, financials, all connected. It's built for HVAC and plumbing companies doing eight figures, and the implementation is a project with a project manager. A pool company needs to be large and complex before this makes sense.
Best for: Twenty-plus trucks, multiple locations, a dedicated operations person.
Don't buy it for: Anything under ten trucks. The cost and setup are out of proportion.
How to pick pool service software
Write down the task that broke last week. Not the feature you want, the task that failed. "A homeowner called at 2pm, I was vacuuming, she went to voicemail and hired someone else." That sentence is your buying brief, and it tells you which category to shop in.
- Calls going to voicemail, quotes going quiet: a CRM built for the phone. That's the PoolCRM category.
- Techs missing stops, no record of what was done: route software. Skimmer or Pool Brain.
- Office can't keep up with scheduling and billing: Pool Office Manager, or Jobber if you do more than pools.
- Dispatching repairs across several techs: Housecall Pro.
- Twenty trucks and a spreadsheet problem: ServiceTitan.
Then demo one real workflow, not a screen tour. For route software, run a rescheduled visit with unfinished notes. For a CRM, have someone call your number while you're on the demo and don't answer. What happens next is the product.
What most pool companies actually run
Route software plus a CRM. Skimmer at $49 a month runs the truck. PoolCRM at $397 a month runs the phone. Together that's about $450 a month, and it covers the two things no single product on this list does well: doing the work and getting the customer. The pricing page has the payback math, and the Skimmer integration page shows how they connect.
FAQ
What is the best pool service software?
It depends on which job is broken. Skimmer or Pool Brain for running the route, PoolCRM for the phone and follow-up, Jobber for pool plus other trades, Housecall Pro for dispatch-heavy repair work, ServiceTitan for large operations. Most pool companies end up running route software plus a CRM.
Do I need a CRM if I already have Skimmer?
If you never miss a call and every quote gets followed up, no. Most pool companies miss 20 to 30 percent of inbound calls during the day and follow up quotes once. A CRM built for the phone recovers those. That's the job PoolCRM does next to Skimmer.
How much does pool service software cost?
Route software runs $49 to $55 a month per tech or per user. General field service software starts around $39 to $59 a month. PoolCRM is $397 a month flat with setup included. Enterprise platforms like ServiceTitan are custom quoted. Prices as of September 2026.
What's the best pool service software for a one-truck company?
Skimmer for the route at $49 a month, plus whatever it takes to stop missing calls. For most one-truck operators that's PoolCRM, because the owner is in a backyard when the phone rings. Read the one-truck page for the math.
Can I use general field service software like Jobber for a pool company?
Yes, especially if you do more than pools. You'll give up pool-specific features like chemistry logs and readings, and you'll pay extra for review requests. Ask to see a tech log a chemical reading before signing.
Should I replace Skimmer with PoolCRM?
No. They do different jobs. Skimmer runs the route. PoolCRM fills it. They connect through Zapier or webhooks, and most PoolCRM customers keep their route software.
